MORTON’S MEDICINE AND MIRACLES RAISES FUNDS FOR LOCAL HOSPITALS
JACKSONVILLE, FL. July 28, 2006 – Morton’s Medicine and Miracles presented by The Kossak Companies raises $46,000 for the Children’s Miracle Network benefiting UF & Shands Jacksonville and Wolfson Children’s Hospital.
Guests were served and entertained at Morton’s Steakhouse by key Jacksonville Jaguar players and coaches, local media personalities, and doctors. Awards were given to Dr. Matt Bargas of Nemours Children’s Clinic for Most Amusing and Ken Anderson, quarterbacks coach for the Jaguars, for Most Funds Raised.
A special thanks to Mike Smith, defensive coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars, who was the Master of Ceremonies and Charlene Shirk, news anchor for First Coast News, who was the Emcee at this year’s event.
Alex, our Celebrity Miracle Child, and his mother, Michelle, told a heartwarming story about their experience with Wolfson Children’s Hospital and the support they received from the Children’s Miracle Network while he was being treated for his liver transplant. Alex is just one example of why events such as this one that raise funds and awareness are so important to the local community.
Children’s Miracle Network is dedicated to improving health and welfare of all children by raising funds and awareness for the pediatric programs at UF & Shands Jacksonville and Wolfson Children’s Hospital. The founding principle of Children’s Miracle Network is that all funds raised stay locally to improve the health care for children in the community.
