GrahamName: Graham Croft
Age: 6
DIAGNOSIS: Chronic Sinusitis

Graham Croft is the fifth child in his family, so his mom knows a thing or two about childhood illnesses.  While her other kids' sicknesses would last a week at most, she noticed that Graham tended to be ill for months at a time.  He was on antibiotics for nearly two straight years and his sinus problems gave him terrible headaches and made him struggle to sleep.

Graham's parents decided to get their son's tonsils and adenoids removed. After surgery they learned that his adenoids had been blocking 80 % of his nasal passages. Graham felt much better after that procedure, but doctors knew he needed one more surgery to help him breathe easier. Using a new Image Guidance System purchased through a grant from Children's Miracle Network, surgeons operated on Graham's sinuses. The machine allowed doctors to see a 3-D image of their young patient's head as they performed surgery. They could track the movement and location of surgical instruments in real time throughout the procedure to ensure they were avoiding sensitive areas of the nose and brain.

After the second surgery, Graham's mom says her son finally felt better. He was able to sleep well and his headaches vanished. He still has allergies and some sinus troubles, but not the debilitating problems he had in the past. Graham certainly appreciates the results. When he was asked for a school assignment to complete the sentence, "The best thing that happened to me was…" he answered  "I had two operations at Wolfson Children's Hospital and I'm well now."
