Emonie W.

On a Monday afternoon, Emonie's mother picked her up from school early. Emonie was complaining of a terrible headache. Her mother took her to the emergency room and the doctors started running tests. After the CAT scan was preformed, the doctors noticed a large amount of blood in her brain.

A blood vessel that wasn't properly developed ruptured causing the brain to hemorrhage and suffer a stroke. Emonie was put into a drug-enduced coma to relieve some of the pressure from her brain. She stayed in this coma for nineteen days. The doctors told her parents that the left side of her brain was severely damaged. The left side of the brain controls the right which is body movement and speech. As the medicine wore off, Emonie started to smile then talk by the end of that day.

Today, Emonie is back in school. The equipment used to save Emonie's life was purchased by Children's Miracle Network.
